I’m Margie, a professional food stylist, recipe developer and content creator for still images and video, based in the Cape Winelands. I qualified as a chef at the Institute of Culinary Arts in 2008. I’ve been working in the industry for over 10 years, during which time I’ve won numerous awards including the prestigious Galliova Food Writer Of The Year in 2019.
Anyone who can read a recipe can cook, but knowing why things go wrong or to create a recipe from scratch is where experience and knowledge is needed. Likewise, anyone can take a snap on their phone of their dishes, but understanding angles, props, colours, lighting and what consciously and subconsciously draws people to pictures is where I come in. My training as a professional chef and experience as a food editor gave me a solid understanding of the working of food.
I’m a foodie at heart (the best people in my opinion!) who is lucky enough to have my passion for my work. I eat, speak and sleep food, which means I bring a smile and fun approach (and most probably a hidden tin of condensed milk) to even the most stressful set. Being a mom taught me to be a master multitasker, I’m organised, detail driven and easy going.
